School Farm Tour Information 2010
School Tours start on September 20th and run through November 1st.
We are excited to start the new fall season of school tours and hayrides. We love having schools come to learn about our farm and where their food comes from.
The cost is $4.00 per child, $3.00 per parent or helpers, one teacher per class free (Includes doughnut, apple, farm activity book, educational presentation, Farm tour, and one large pumpkin for each classroom).
Extra pumpkins may be purchased. Pumpkin prices range from $1.00 to $8.00
All schools must call to make an appointment! In order to accommodate as many schools as possible, please arrive when scheduled.
We start our tour with a brief presentation in the loft of the Red Barn explaining what our farm grows and the process in which the fruit and vegetables from South Ridge Farms make it from our farm to your home. Each child is given a farm activity book. We then load up the hay wagons and head to Mountainland Apples packing plant to watch what happens to the apples in order to have them ready to ship to the grocery stores where consumers may purchase them. Each child is given an apple when leaving Mountainland. The hay wagons then take us to the Pumpkin Patch where each teacher may pick a free pumpkin for decorating their classroom. Children may also pick pumpkins if purchased. We return to the Red Barn for a homemade apple cider doughnut. The tour lasts between and hour and a half to two hours.
* If you need to change or modify your appointment please call 24 hours before your scheduled appointment *
